      <description>&lt;p&gt;We are excited to announce that our partner has published two scientific articles in &lt;a href=&#34;https://mswimconf.com/2026/&#34;&gt;MSWiM 2026&lt;/a&gt; and &lt;a href=&#34;http://www.wimob.org/wimob2026/&#34;&gt;WiMob 2026&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The first article, titled &lt;em&gt;&amp;ldquo;AI-Enabled Traffic-Aware Closed-Loop Framework for MAC-Layer Control in Multi-Hop IoT Networks&amp;rdquo;&lt;/em&gt;, presents a traffic-aware closed-loop framework for low-power and lossy wireless networks that monitors network conditions, forecasts near-future degradation, and dynamically reconfigures the MAC protocol according to traffic patterns. Experiments on SLICES-FR show that the approach anticipates performance degradation, restores reliability during bursty traffic, and scales to heterogeneous deployments, while avoiding the energy cost of permanently using TDMA.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

&lt;p&gt;The first article, titled &lt;em&gt;&amp;ldquo;FINE-STACK: Flexible architecture for low-power lossy IoT Networks with programmablE network STACK and semantic runtime updates&amp;rdquo;&lt;/em&gt;, introduces a flexible, fine-grained network architecture where lightweight protocol functions are orchestrated centrally, enabling semantic-aware management and fast, selective runtime updates. Its hybrid design combines local control with optional global optimization, improving network stack programmability. Experiments on a real testbed show that this approach enhances operational performance while significantly reducing update size and time, all within the strict resource constraints of low-power Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Overall, FINE-STACK makes practical runtime reconfiguration and network programmability feasible for IoT.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

&lt;p&gt;The article, titled &lt;em&gt;&amp;ldquo;PENSIL: ProgrammablE Network Stack for Low-Power Lossy IoT Networks Using Lightweight Virtualization&amp;rdquo;&lt;/em&gt;, introduces a new network architecture built around a programmable and modular stack for Low-Power and Lossy Wireless Networks (LLWNs). This architecture enables dynamic and semantic reconfiguration of the protocol stack, allowing networks to adapt seamlessly without downtime. A proof-of-concept implementation on real hardware demonstrates that this approach improves performance through fast, lightweight, and secure updates, all while meeting the stringent memory, energy, and processing constraints of LLWN devices.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

&lt;p&gt;The article, titled &lt;em&gt;&amp;ldquo;Programmable Solutions for Low-power Lossy Wireless Networks: A Study of SDN and Femto Containers&amp;rdquo;&lt;/em&gt;, explores network programmability techniques for Low-power Lossy Wireless Networks (LLWNs) and combines Software-Defined Networking for control plane programmability and Femto Containers for lightweight data plane virtualization.
A proof-of-concept validation on the FIT IoT-LAB testbed demonstrates the feasibility of this approach, effectively meeting LLWN constraints while incurring a slight increase in packet processing delay.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;p&gt;The University of Rennes is proud to announce the recruitment of Adam Lakdhiri for a pioneering PhD thesis focusing on &amp;ldquo;&lt;em&gt;Programmable Wireless Radio for Long-Life Communications&lt;/em&gt;&amp;rdquo;. Scheduled to commence in October or November 2024, this thesis will leverage the Software-defined paradigm (i.e., SDN and SDR) and focus on the design of a programmable, scalable radio system that is aware of its environment and energy consumption.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Adam Lakdhiri will be guided by a team of experienced supervisors, including Matthieu Gautier, Robin Gerzaguet, and Baptiste Vrigneau, who has recently joined the project. Their expertise and mentorship will ensure the success of this innovative research endeavor.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

Thomas Le Tarnec is currently completing his engineering training at the École Supérieure d&amp;rsquo;Ingénieurs de Rennes (&lt;a href=&#34;https://esir.univ-rennes.fr/&#34;&gt;ESIR&lt;/a&gt;).&lt;/p&gt;

An architecture for programming the data plane of constrained wireless networks&amp;rdquo;&lt;/em&gt;, proposes a modular architecture based on programmable networks allowing fine programming of the data plane of constrained wireless networks. Such an approach allows constant adaptation of the network to dynamic variations in order to maintain the required level of performance.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
